For Immediate Release: November 2, 2022

Gainesville, FL - The Children’s Trust of Alachua County will hold the first Community Meeting of its Listening Project on November 7th, from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Fearnside Family Services Center (3600 NE 15th St.).

The Children’s Trust wants to hear from the community ideas on how to improve services for children in this county. It will also be an opportunity for community members to meet the Trust’s new Executive Director, Marsha Kiner, who took the leadership reins on October 1, 2022.

“I’m excited to meet with parents, youth, and family providers to hear their ideas,” said Kiner. “I grew up in Gainesville and have returned home to the community I love. I want to learn about all the great new things happening in our County as well as the community’s ideas for improving the future for our children and families.”

Organized as a drop-in event, parents, youth, and interested community members can stop by for 15 minutes or stay longer if they wish. There will be a variety of activities to gather input, including a Video Booth and a game to vote on how funding should be used in the County. Refreshments and door prizes will be provided.

Additional community meetings are scheduled for December 2022. Parent and youth focus groups are also scheduled for November and December. The complete calendar of events is available on the Trust website: ChildrensTrustofAlachuaCounty.us.
